Confidence is having faith in someone.

Self-confidence is trusting that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens.

It is a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something. You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things, without letting doubts or fears hold you back. When you have confidence in others, you rely on them

Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong."

Some ways to help build self confidence are:

Recognize your talents and good qualities and write them down. No matter how down you feel, try to pat yourself on the back a little and remember the things you excel at.

Think of the obstacles that stand in the way of your confidence. Take a piece of paper and write all the things that you think are keeping you from becoming confident, e.g., bad grades, introversion, not many friends, etc. Now ask yourself this: Is that valid or logical?

For example: You didn't get good grades on your last math test, so as a result you're not confident when it comes to your next test. But ask yourself this: If you studied really hard, worked with the teacher, and prepared for the test, would you do better?! YES.

Remember that everyone struggles with confidence. Some people are good at hiding it, but nearly every person has struggled with his or her self-confidence at one point. You're not alone!

Take risks. Sometimes the only way out is through. In order to get good at life, you have to encounter experiences that force you to learn. You can't be awesome at it right off the bat. If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll never get better at...anything. You have to take chances to grow.

Failure is inevitable. It always happens. And it doesn't matter. The only part that matters is that you get back up. Everyone experiences set backs, but not everyone gets back up. It's the getting back up that builds confidence, and you've got to fail in the first place to do so.

Reliability means that others can depend on you. You keep your commitments and give your best to every job. You are responsible. You don’t forget, and you don’t need to be reminded. Other people can relax knowing things are in your reliable hands.

You are practicing Reliability when you...

Make promises you can keep

Treat your agreements seriously

Plan ahead

Do your best

Finish on time

Find another way if obstacles occur

Some examples of reliability are:

You agreed to be home by a certain time and a friend invites you to do something

fun. You go home at the time you agreed to.

It is your turn to do the dishes and you’re not in the mood. You do them anyway.

You promised your Mom you would brush your teeth after breakfast and the

school bus is coming. You take your toothbrush with you and brush them at school.

Your part of a team report is due tomorrow and you feel too sleepy to finish it. You do your best and do it anyway.

Wela’lioq,

Marjorie Pierro

Faithfulness is being loyal to our beliefs regardless of what happens. We do our work the best way that we can.

It is being true to the people we love. They know we will not abandon them or violate the sacred trust between us. Faithfulness through the changes and tests of time is a sign of lasting love. Faithful friendship is one of life’s greatest treasures.” You are faithful when:

  • You will never take away your love for your family and friends
  • You can be trusted to fulfill promises and commitments
  •  You put the welfare of others ahead of their own welfare.

·          You keep secrets and refuse to repeat unkind things

others have said, being forgiving even if your feelings

are hurt, and doing what you say you will do.

If you have a dog, you understand faithfulness

Your dog will wait for you to come home,

watch for your arrival, follow you around the

house or yard and stay close to you while you work

or play, and choose to come and be petted by you

rather than a stranger.

Faithfulness in religion refers to always trusting God and believing in him.
