Students in Grade 8 have been working on their final projects for The Outsiders for approximately five days. Students are required to finish these projects at home and hand them in on Monday, November 30, 2015. Students should have a copy of the project outline with them in their English binders.

Students in Grades 7, 8 and 9 will be writing a quiz in their English classes on Friday, November 13, 2015. The quizzes are based on the novels being read in class.

Students in Grade 9 have finished reading Stuck in Neutral by Terry Trueman and are working on a final assignment for the novel. The assignment consists of an essay and an art piece. The students have been given options for the essay question and the art piece. The finished assignment must be handed in by the end of the day on Friday, November 13, 2015.

Students in Grade 8 are working on a novel assignment for The Outsiders (Chapter 1-6). They have been working on this assignment in class. The assignment contains a key concept activity, a summary page, a connections page and a visualization page. The assignment must be handed in by Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Students in Grade 7 are working on an assignment for Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. Students have been working on this assignment in class and must have it completed by Thursday, November 12, 2015. 

For their final project, students in Grade 8/9 English are completing autobiographies in the form of a power point presentation. The assignment sheet is attached and outlines the required information students must include. Students are also encouraged to include additional information and slides. We will be working on these assignments in class until Monday, June 8, 2015. Students will be presenting their slideshows on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

For their final project, students in Grade 7 English are completing an autobiography assignment. The assignment sheet is attached and it outlines the information students are required to include. Students are encouraged to include extra information as well.

Students will be writing a short Social Studies quiz on Thursday, June 4, 2015.

The quiz will cover the unit we completed on "Canadian Confederation". Students must know:

-who controlled the British North America before 1867

-what confederation is

-how the idea of confederation started

-the main reasons for and against confederation

-the meetings that took place

-when it happened

-who joined and when

Grade 7 students will be writing a test tomorrow, May 7, 2015. The test is based on Chapter 6 in their Social Studies textbook. Students completed review packages in class and can use these to study.

Students have started a new unit on nonfiction text. Today, we read about the Leaning Tower of Pisa. For homework, students have been assigned a famous landmark to research. They need to read at least one article about the landmark and write down five facts about the landmark.
